On the morning of March 4, at the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE), the event "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality" took place by UN women (United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women) organization in Vietnam.
This is the 10th year of the "Ring the Bell for Gender Equality" event organized globally by UN Women and the 6th time Vietnam has participated to emphasize the key role of the private sector in promoting gender equality. and enhance economic empowerment for women, towards sustainable business and social development.
The event is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE), the United Nations Agency for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the Vietnam Women's Entrepreneurs Council, and the Trade Federation. and Vietnam Industry (VCCI), International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Australian Embassy in Vietnam jointly organized.
In a world facing many crises, ensuring gender equality and enhancing women's economic empowerment is the best way to ensure a prosperous economy and sustainable social development.
In 2024, the United Nations chooses the theme of International Women's Day as: Investing in women: Accelerating Development. This year's event calls on the private sector to step up investment in women's development and gender equality in the workplace, community and market.
At the discussion session "Investing in women: From policy to practice", speakers came from the Inter Pacific Group (IPPG), Viet Thang Corporation, and Vietnam Airlines Corporation (Vietnam Airlines). ) and the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) discussed and shared corporate policies and practices on gender equality, and budget sources for gender-related activities so that no one left behind. In addition, the event had a number of presentations on international experiences on businesses practicing gender equality and investment priorities for gender equality.
Also at the discussion session, IPPG General Director, Ms. Le Hong Thuy Tien said: equality and integration in business activities are an integral part of IPPG's culture for more than 39 years of business and development in Vietnam.
